

Carolyn R. Doughty, 87, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025. Born on May 21, 1937, in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Arsenault and Marion (Merrill) Arsenault. Carolyn grew up in Falmouth Fireside, Maine, graduating from Falmouth High School in 1955. Carolyn grew up across the street from the love of her life, her late husband, Moulton Doughty, they were wed in 1959. Soon after they were married, they moved to Brooklyn, NY where their daughter Jennifer was born, before moving to Old Saybrook, CT in 1963. They were blessed to spend 49 years together.
Carolyn was happiest around others; she found her joy in cooking and entertaining. She was known for bringing others together for holidays and celebrations.
As well as a doting wife, Carolyn was a loving mother to her two daughters, Deborah (Doughty) Minore and Jennifer (Doughty) Freeborn. Carolyn also loved to spoil her grandson, Ryan. He was the light of her life.
When Carolyn’s children were older, she joined the workforce at Pepperidge Farms where she met lifelong friends.
As well as her husband and her parents, Carolyn is predeceased by her son-in-law, Philip Minore.
Carolyn will be deeply missed by her children, Deborah Minore and Jennifer Freeborn (husband Greg), as well as her beloved grandson.
A calling hours for Carolyn will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd, Old Saybrook, Connecticut 06475, followed by a prayer service at 4:30 PM.
Burial at Riverside Cemetery will be private.
