

Edward Benda Lynde, 88 of Winthrop Road of Chester, died February 21 at The Guilford House. He was the husband of the late Sabina (Fippinger) Lynde. Ed was born August 28, 1923 in Chester on the family farm (Pattaconk Valley). He is the son of the late Roland Dowd Lynde and Mary (Benda) Lynde. A lifelong resident of Chester who loved to farm and the history of Chester, he wished that his children and grandchildren would work together and enjoy the farm. Ed joined the US Navy in 1942 and attended flight school. His love for flying was with him his entire life. He was a lifelong New York Yankee fan. Ed retired from UARCO in Deep River and was a member of Westbrook Elks #1784. He leaves two sons, Edward Roland Lynde and his wife Deborah of Chester and Joseph Ippi and his partner Karen of Chester. Two devoted daughters, Judith (Lynde) Schondorf and her husband Charles of Westbrook, Wendy (Lynde) Nelson and her husband Donald of Middletown, one sister, Elsie L. Tarpill of Chester and seven grandchildren; Kelly Lenihan and her husband Charles, Donald Nelson, and his wife Jessica Lynne, Alecia Walkuski and her husband Steve, Elizabeth Lynde, Cora Lynde, Joseph Ippi and his wife Robin, Jill Dibble and her husband Jeff. Ed is also survived by six great grandchildren; Lauren Lenihan, Charles Lenihan, Riley Nelson, Tyler Ippi, Nick Dibble, and Sam Dibble. He was predeceased by beloved uncle, B. Joseph Benda, who was a second father to Ed. The family would like to thank Middlesex Hospital and the Guilford House for their extraordinary love and care.
