Our beloved, Galvin James Stuart, 25, died unexpectedly at home on April 8, 2026. Galvin was born on July 2, 2000 in Middletown, CT to Jill and Paul Stuart. He grew up in Old Saybrook, though he lived in Canterbury, England from 2010 to 2014 with his family. While there he attended Kent College where he developed a love for the sport of field hockey, excelling as a goalkeeper. Upon returning to the U.S. he continued his passion for the sport, training with East Coast High Performance, and as a member of the USA Junior Men’s National Field Hockey Team.
Galvin graduated from Old Saybrook High School in 2018 where he was a member of the National Honor Society, active in both the music and drama departments, and member of the soccer and indoor/outdoor track teams. At the University of Delaware, he was a DuPont Scholar and earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering. While at Delaware, Galvin embraced the opportunity participating as a practice player and assistant coach with the Division I NCAA Field Hockey Team. He was also a founding member of Resilient Build, a student run organization dedicated to progressing environmental sustainability projects.
Galvin was employed at Eversource as an Energy Efficiency Engineer. He thoroughly enjoyed partnering with his colleagues, conducting industry Energy Audits, and building his career. He recently earned credentials as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and enjoyed volunteering for the Connecticut Special Olympics.
Galvin had the unique ability to find and make connections with everyone he met. He was kind, caring, funny, charismatic and had a smile that expressed immense joy. He loved to travel and took a backpacking trip across Europe with his college roommate upon graduation, visiting friends he had made throughout his life. He loved skiing with family, biking, attending music festivals, hiking and camping. Galvin continued his passion for field hockey playing for the Greenwich Field Hockey Club and officiating high school field hockey throughout Connecticut.
In addition to his parents, Galvin is survived by his two older brothers, Nolan and Hunter, and his younger sister, Libby. He also leaves behind many special aunts, uncles, cousins, teammates, work colleagues, and an incredible group of friends. A beloved son, caring brother, forever friend, and an enthusiastic goalkeeper and teammate, Galvin brought us all immeasurable joy. We were blessed to have him in our lives for 25 years and we will miss him tremendously.
