

Jim was born on October 1, 1946, in Kew Gardens, New York, and was the son of Edward H. and Madeline Dean. He grew up in Albertson, New York, attended Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York, was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received a Master of Business Administration from New York University. Jim relocated his family from New York to Durham, Connecticut, where he became involved in politics and served on the town’s Board of Selectmen.
Jim’s career in business spanned marketing and advertising across a variety of- industries from silver to school supplies. From the time he was young, Jim enjoyed the music of Bob Dylan and jazz, especially New Orleans Jazz. He also loved spending time with family and friends.
He is predeceased by his partner, Beverly LeVasseur, and survived by his three children, James Dean Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of White Plains, New York; Joshua Dean, and his wife, Kristin, of Chester, Connecticut; Amanda Dean Parker and her husband, Kenny, of Burlington, Connecticut; and six grandchildren whom he adored.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023, from Noon to 3:00 pm at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, Connecticut.
