Joseph W. Drzewi

Joseph Walter Drzewi passed away surrounded by his family on January 20, 2025. He was born on October 7, 1950 in Derby, Connecticut to Cecelia and Chester Drzewi. Joe was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David Drzewi. He is survived by his brother, Stephen Drzewi.

Joseph married Patricia Potoniec and they were happily married for 53 years. He lived in Wallingford for most of his life and then moved to Westbrook. Joseph was the father of Jacquelyn Dube and her husband Jason, Jonathan Drzewi and his wife Melissa, and Jocelyn Leavitt. He was the proud grandfather to Madison and Morgan Dube, Breanna and Brooklyn Drzewi, and Jackson and Austin Leavitt.

Joe worked as a computer programmer at SNET for 20 years, and retired from Computer Science Corporation when he became a professional grandfather. Joe loved driving his blue and green golf cart throughout his neighborhood of Old Kelsey Point (OKP). He enjoyed cooking for his family, fishing off the jetty, and visiting with his OKP neighbors.

The family would like to thank the angels on the 7th floor, as well as all of the nurses on the 11th and 12th floor of Smilow who took such good care of our Pop over the last several months.

The family will receive friends and relatives at Swan Funeral Home in Old Saybrook, on Saturday, February 1st from 2-5 pm with words of remembrance shared at 4:30 pm.
