

Patrick A. Stratton, age 83, passed away on July 15, 2023 at his home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Aughnasheelin, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Ireland on May 30, 1940. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bridget (Kelleher) Stratton. He is also survived by his 2 sons: Patrick Stratton and Andrew and Leslie Stratton. Pat treasured his grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Ryan, and Leigha. They brought him lots of happiness and joy.
Pat is survived by his loving siblings who supported him on his journey: John and Eileen Stratton, Anthony and Eileen Stratton, Philomena and Chris Dolan, Francis and Mary Stratton, Gerald and Nancy Stratton, Thomas and Helen Stretton, and Kathleen Stretton. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pat was the son of the late (Patrick) Joe and Celia (Gormley) Stretton. He was predeceased by his siblings: Maura and James McGuinness, Joseph Stratton, Anne Beirne, Phillip Stratton, Oliver and Bridget Stratton, nephew Joseph Stratton, and grandnephew Michael Torello.
Pat was a proud and dedicated New Haven Firefighter for 30 years. He spent most of his career in Westville while living in Hamden with his family. He also served honorably in the U.S. Army. Pat had a lifelong passion for Traditional Irish music. He was well known throughout Connecticut as one of the best Irish fiddle players. Pat was a gentle and kind man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Visitation will be held this Wednesday, July 19 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, in Old Saybrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 20th at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s Evangelist Church, 222 McVeagh Rd., Westbrook with Burial to follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, off Rte. 145 in Westbrook.
