

Ronald M. Griffen passed away peacefully with his Wife by his side on January 19, 2015 at 87 years of age. He was born on April 28, 1927. Thanks for the good care given to him by all his doctors, Aaron Manor, Guilford House, Middlesex Hospital Homecare Nurses, Therapists, caregiver Lois and Hospice Nurses. He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Germany during the occupation.
He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also was a good cook, pizza being one of his specialties. Together, both he and his wife watched the daily Mass on TV. Before retiring he worked for 34 years designing switchboards for the DAD Division of General Electric in Plainville. Every first Monday of the month he met his retired buddies for breakfast at the Saint Restaurant in Plainville. Both he and his wife enjoyed the best of both worlds, dividing time between No. Hutchinson Island, FL and Old Saybrook, CT. He maintained his sense of humor to the very end.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Mary, of 65 years, three children; Lynne and David Bishop of Salem, NH, daughter Ronna (born on his birthday) from out of state, and son Jim of Old Saybrook. He also leaves two grandchildren; Kelly and Ryan of Woodbury, CT. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond and sister Doris. Also he leaves two sister-in-laws; Josie Griffen of So. Windsor, Dorothy Grillo of Lebanon, and many nieces and nephews. “Wheatie,” was a faithful canine companion during his final years. There will be no calling hours. A requiem Mass will be held Friday January 23rd at 11AM at St. John’s Church in Old Saybrook. Burial will be private at discretion of the family.
