Thadeus William Waselewski, 93, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Hamden, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. Ted was born in New Haven on September 24, 1921, son of Joseph and Victoria Krawczyk Waselewski, brother of the late Chester Wasilewski and sister, Lorretta Doll. Ted was predeceased by his wife, Julia, of 62 years. He was a devoted husband and loving caregiver until she lost her battle with Alzheimer’s in 2012.
Ted was the father of Nancy Marston and husband Bill, and Linda Winters of Old Saybrook. Grandfather of Jonathan and Josie Marston of Brookline, MA and Peter and Laura Marston of Portland, Maine. Ted delighted in his three great grandchildren, Jack and Quinn of Portland and Colby of Brookline. Grandpa Ted was a hero in their eyes. Nephew Thomas Doll and niece Beverly Zarnetski showed great kindness and friendship to Uncle Ted throughout the years.
Ted proudly served in the U. S. Navy during WWII until 1946. His plans to reenlist changed when he met his wife Julia at a U.S.O. dance. He worked at A. C. Gilbert Company until he joined the New Haven Fire Department where he worked for 25 years. After retiring as a firefighter, he served as Manager of the New Haven Firefighters Credit Union until 2012.
Ted was a very hard worker, always putting family first. He loved his home in Old Saybrook and spent many happy hours enjoying walks and drives by the water with his beloved wife Judy. His last glimpse of the CT River brought a beautiful smile to his face. He will be greatly missed. Many thanks to his wonderful companions MaryAnn and Sue, the staff at Gladeview, and Middlesex Hospital Hospice. Neighboring families Graniero and Grebasch were dear to him as well.
