

OLD TOWN—Cecelia Blanche (Brooks) “Memere” Roy, 100, graduated to heaven October 1, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born July 16, 1913 in Old Town a daughter of Alfred and Lillian (LaBrie) Brooks.
She was employed in area shoe shops and at Jordan Casket Co, but she most enjoyed and considered herself a homemaker. She loved her family dearly and cared for many children and adults over the years. Her home was always open. She enjoyed knitting. She was a member of Holy Family Church and was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1991 and daughters Rita and Germaine. She is survived by her sons James Roy and his wife Jeanne and Richard Roy and his wife Carol; five grandchildren Steve Roy, Andy Roy, Debbie Gunter, Darcie Flight, and Denise Gregory; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; special friends at the Woodlands Mary and Betty.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jean and Laura from Beacon Hospice and the loving staff at the Woodlands of Brewer for their tender care of “Memere” and her special caregivers “The Cindys”.
Friends may call 12:00-3:30 PM Friday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday at the Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Church, 429 Main St Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following all services, all are invited to the Parish Hall for a time of fellowship and a light luncheon.
