OLD TOWN- Daniel “Danny” D. Dionne passed from this world January 19, 2020 due to complications from COPD and Alzheimer's. He was born December 5, 1940 in Old Town, son of Joseph and Irma (LePage) Dionne.
Danny was a proud, strong-willed man, with a very strong work ethic. His earlier years were spent in area shoe shops and the Ounegan Woolen Mill, then on to construction until a debilitating back injury forced him into retirement. His passion was polishing his car and doing yard work, and he could often be seen around their home making it the prettiest and best groomed yard on the block, along with the shiniest car on Stillwater Ave. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love was his family, being married to his high school sweetheart and love of his life for 56 years, having 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife, Barbara (Sevigny) Dionne; two daughters, Crystal Gastia and her husband, Kevin, and Carin Dionne and her friend Joe LeClair; grandchildren Brandon, Daniel and Mckayla Gastia, Colby, Christy, and Tori Doucette, and Bradley and Ashley King; great grandchildren Klaire and Kail Loring, Nolan and Madden King, and McKinley and Mason Doucette; brothers, Bob, Roger, Reggie and Ricky Dionne; and a sister, Sharon Freeman. Danny was predeceased by his father Joseph Dionne; mother Irma Violette; son-in-laws, Scott King and Louis Doucette Jr.; and, his daughter, Corinne, whom he missed terribly and with whom he is finally happily reunited.
A celebration of life will held Thursday, January 23 at 10am at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street in Old Town. A light luncheon will be served as we honor, and share our memories of Danny.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Penobscot Area Special Olympics, P.O. Box 65, Bradley, Maine 04411.
Graveside services at Milford Cemetery will be conducted 11:30AM Saturday May 14, 2022.
