David graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1977. He held many positions with Penobscot Nation Emergency Services over the next 30 years, mainly as a dispatcher. When David retired, he committed himself to serving others, delivering meals to the elderly during COVID.
David had a passion for collecting vehicles- with his most recent car, Sally the Mustang. He could often be found listening to 70’s music or sitting on his swing and waving at those who passed by. David was a loving and kind person who put his family first. He was a good husband and father but most of all, David loved being a grandfather.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Sapiel; his children, David Sapiel, Jr. and wife, Mary, Krystal Sapiel and partner, Jesse Buxton; and Marccus Sapiel and partner, Elisha Sockbeson; grandchildren, Savannah, Jordan, Leah, Jakoby (his soon to be born grandchild), Aiden and Sadie. He is also survived by his “special” cousins, Nora and Dawn; special great-great nephew, Nicholas Mitchell; special friend, Mark Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. David also loved his grand-dogs, Nala, Barley, Kali, and Lacy; as well as his own dog, Peppa. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his siblings, Hope Fitt, Theresa Bartlett, Nicholas H. Sapiel and many other dear family members.
