OLD TOWN—Dorothy “Dot” E. (Kennedy) McLaughlin, 92, went home to be with the Lord Monday August 17, 2020. She was born March 27, 1928 in Argyle a daughter to Ernest and Ethel (Ballard) Kennedy.
Dot married George H. McLaughlin, Sr, on October 19, 1946 in Old Town. During their 45 years together, they raised three children George “Bo” Jr, David and Rosemary. They lived most of their married life in Pea Cove. She was a graduate of Old Town High School and worked in various shoe factories in Old Town until her retirement in 1990. She loved reading, spending time at her camp at Boyd Lake, family outings, family reunions, and holidays with her family. She enjoyed attending Glad Tidings Church in Bangor for many years and Sunday lunches with her friends after church. Dot was a very proud wife of a Purple Heart veteran. She will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her loving husband George H. McLaughlin, Sr., and twelve brothers and sisters. She was the last of the 13 Kennedy children.
She is survived by her three children George and Roxanne McLaughlin, David and Karen McLaughlin, Rosemary LaMountain and her fiancé Michael Prickett, Sr. all of Old Town; ten grandchildren Betty Jean McLaughlin, Shawna Morin, Malissa Moore, Brenda Paul, Lis aHughes, Devon Davis, Jamey Shorey, Scott Shorey, Scott Shorey, Sean Voteur, and Donald Voteur; many great grandchildren.
Due to the current pandemic, adherence to CDC guidelines are required to include social distancing and face coverings. A funeral service will be conducted 2PM Monday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main Street Old Town where people may visit from 12 noon until time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Old Town. The funeral service will be livestreamed at the Birmingham Funeral Home Facebook page.
