Mary was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a 1951 graduate of George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill, Class of 1951. Mary enjoyed meeting and talking to people. This characteristic turned into a career as she and her husband owned and operated the Winter Harbor Five and Ten for over 20 years. She enjoyed visiting with her customers as they visited the store. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband. She was a member of the Eastern Star, an avid Maine Hockey fan, and enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her son, Mark Graffam and his companion, Anne Gillen, of Bradley; her grandson, Thomas Graffam and his wife, Heather, of Bradley; her granddaughter, Jennifer (Graffam) Murphy and her husband, Drew, of Milford; her great-grandson, Noah Graffam and great-granddaughter, Braelynn Murphy; two brothers, Elmer Carter and his wife, Judy, of Westbrook, and Herb Carter and his wife, Faye, of Sullivan; and her sister, Ethel Ivey of Eliot; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Lawrence Graffam in 2007; as well as three sisters, Winnifred Ring, Alice Barlow, and Betty Powers.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
