Old Town—Ovila Joseph Arseneault, 87, died October 13, 2021 at his residence with family by his side. He was born February 19, 1934 in Acadieville, New Brunswick, Canada a son of Arthur and Marie (Richard) Arseneault.
Ovila loved spending time with his wife and family every chance he had. He worked away most weeks; so, weekends were always family time. He was a kind, loving husband and father. He was employed at HE Sargent for 36 years as a heavy equipment operator. Since 1960, he has been an active member and communicant of Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord (Holy Family Church, St. Joseph Church) Old Town.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Florence; three daughters Joanne Arseneault, Murielle Shina and Therese Hursh; four granddaughters Missy (Shina) and her spouse Jimmy Kearns, Monica Hursh and her partner Miguel Cruz, Mindy Shina and her partner David Scripture, and Kimberly (Hursh) and her spouse Matt Irwin; great grandchildren Gavin Dow, Jetta Ruark, Sarina Dow, Kandice Ruark, Jenna Grant, Robert Ruark, Kaydin Reed, Quintin Tidwell, Amiyah Hursh, and Aliyah Cruz. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Marie, step mother Alice, and brothers Roger and Nazaire.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Monday October 18, 2021 at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, 429 Main Street, Old Town. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Immediately following the service at the cemetery, all are invited to return to the Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
