Richard Jameson

Enfield and Orono - Richard Charles 'Dick' Jameson, 84, died peacefully November 11, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. He was born February 11, 1933, in Bradley, a son of Lester and Sarah (LeBlac) Jameson, the youngest of eight children, Beulah Young, Isaac, Marguerite Currier, Woodrow, Earl, Sylvia Gauthier, and James.

Dick married Patricia Myers in 1955 and they raised two daughters (Julie and Susan) in Orono in a home full of love and laughter. He was a graduate of Old Town High School, served in the US Navy, and was employed by the Old Town Paper Mill for 38 years. Dick was a member of the Enfield Elders, the Enfield Grange, the American Legion, Orono United Methodist Church, and the First Christian Church of Vero Beach, FL, where he wintered for many years. He enjoyed traveling and went all over the world. He loved to hunt and fish, especially with his brother Earl, and was most happy at West Lake surrounded by all of us who loved him.

He is survived by two daughters, Julie Monroe and her husband, Stephen, and Susan Tibbetts and her husband, Pat; beloved grandchildren, Emily and Annie Monroe and Lillian and Eliott Smith. After Pat's death in 1989, Dick began a new chapter marrying Frances Williams of Enfield. He loved her family and they embraced him as their own. They are Greg and Diane Williams, and Heidi and Tyke Seavey and grandchildren Amy (James) McDougal, Aaron (Jessica) Williams, Sarah and Melissa Seavey. When Frances died in 2004, Dick was blessed with the love and companionship of Joan Burgoyne of Enfield; her children are Cathy (Dick) Mattson, Julie (Glen) McKechnie, Kevin, Kim (Andrew) McLaughlin and Laura (Tim) Ireland. Dick and Joan have enjoyed thirteen wonderful years together. The loving relationship between his three families is a testament to the wonderful man he was.

A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Orono Methodist Church, 36 Oak St., Orono, ME 04473. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Orono, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to his churches, Crossroads Ministries in Old Town, or the Old Town Animal Orphanage.
