Rita Ann Goodwin

Old Town- Rita A. Goodwin, 86, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on August 27, 2021 at a Bangor hospital with her family by her side. She was born April 6, 1935 in Fairfield the daughter of Albert M. and Emily S. (Alley) Waning.

Rita was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her husband and family were the center of her life. Together, she and Richard loved attending church services where Rita would pay her autoharp. They enjoyed camping in their van, some of their favorite spots were Graham lake, Schoodic Point, Greenville and the coast.

She is survived by four sons Michael Goodwin and his wife Diane of Charlotte, NC; Donald Goodwin and his wife Jill of Patterson, LA; Robert Goodwin and his wife Helen of Bangor, and Mark Goodwin and his wife Amy of Bangor. Five grandchildren Eric Goodwin and his wife Katie and their children Lillie and William Goodwin of Atlanta, GA ; Emily Goodwin of Charlotte,NC; Donnie Goodwin of Patterson, LA; David Goodwin and his son Colin of Oceanside, California; and Kimberly Goodwin of Morgan City, LA.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2014, her parents, a brother Bernard, three sisters Marie Braley, Priscilla Dow, and Doris Ross.

Friends may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home 438 Main St. Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday with the Rev. Randy Washington, officiating. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the Birmingham Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Lawndale Cemetery Old Town. Do not weep for me for I am at home now with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and will once again see my beloved husband Richard and your earthly father. Love all of you. Love and serve Jesus, see you in heaven.
