Mrs. Margaret Marie Ottenhof Lambert

Margaret was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on February 1, 1939, third daughter, to Matthew and Margaret (Mol) Ottenhof. Her family would go on to include 8 brothers and 1 more sister. In 1949 the Ottenhof family emigrated from Holland to Canada. They arrived at Howe Island and settled in Kingston, Ontario.

Marg went on to Nursing at the Ontario Hospital Training School in Kingston and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1961. Her first posting was in Northern Alberta at Hay Lakes / Habay 1961-62. There she met Hugh -Jim-Lambert whom she would later marry in 1965.

She enjoyed life to the fullest; from living on a trapline to farming to various small towns. Each place / endeavour met with enthusiasm and confidence.

Marg was a dedicated, caring nurse until her retirement in 2003. Her career spanned many hospitals and units. Her latest position was RN in the Long Term Care unit in Edson. In keeping with her giving nature, Margaret also volunteered for two medical missions: Mexico in 1998 and Brazil in 2003. It was her intention to continue providing medical help to those in need as long as she could.

Marg had many interests: berry picking, painting, reading, playing scrabble, volunteering. But her passion was the Catholic Church. She was always searching for ways to grow in her faith and share her faith with others. One path led to her joining the movement Regnum Christi in 1996. Within Regnum Christi she found ways to lend her talents to serve God. She also made two pilgrimages to Rome and one to Jerusalem.

She was a loving, guiding mother to Lynne (Jay) Bell, of Olds, Alberta and Jason (Tammy) Lambert of Strathmore, Alberta. Her pride and joy and love of her life were her four grandchildren Kelsey, Ian, Elise Bell and Evan Lambert.

Marg is survived by her dearest Mother and friend, Margaret Ottenhof of Kingston. As well as her three sisters, Clare Boulanger, Susan Ottenhof, Miek Henshaw and seven brothers, Frank, Phillip, Peter, Art, Henry, Joe and Ben. She is pre-deceased by her Dad, Matthew and brother Matt.

Her Vigil was held Wednesday January 7, 2009 at 7pm. Her funeral Mass was Thursday January 8, 2009 at 2pm. Father Shane Lambert, LC was celebrant. She was interned at the Olds Cemetery.

Memorial donations in her memory can be made to Regnum Christi, the Legionaries of Christ or your local Catholic Church / Parish. Prayers for her and her family are also very welcome.
