She was born to Charles and Anne Fortner on July 17, 1926 in Ashland, MS., moving to the Memphis area after high school where she worked in a war munitions factory during WWII.
It was there that Connie met and married Homer Curbo, Jr. which lasted 47 years until his passing in 1991.
Connie was an entrepreneur starting and running several different businesses, among them a beauty shop, a fabrics store, art instruction, and an interior design business. In 1974, she and Mrs. Gee Lyons painted a two-story mural on the Sterick Building in downtown Memphis. For several years, she hosted a weekly Memphis radio show for Women’s Aglow, an interdenominational organization of Christian women.
She is survived by sons, David Allen Curbo (Becky) of Germantown, TN., Charles Bruce Curbo (Robbie) of Magnolia, TX., Sandra Curbo (Johnny) along with 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers and sisters, husband Homer (Dink) Curbo, and son John Homer Curbo.
Family will receive friends on Monday, May 31, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Memphis, TN.
