John L. Coopwood passed away on November 20, 2017, at home. He was 93. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and wife Ella Coopwood. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruth Coopwood, daughters, Brenda Gallini and Carol Helms (Jerry); his grandchildren, Ricky Hudson (Peggy), Duayne Hudson (Pam), David Hudson (Debbie), Shirley Davis (Leroy), Alan Gallini, Jennifer Moerbe (Carl) ,Lynlee Eubank (John) and Jonathan Helms (Leslie), and many great grandchildren. John served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific theatre. He was employed by Ben J Malone for over 50 years.
He was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church. John was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and Atlanta Braves fan. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24 from 12-2PM until the service begins at 2PM at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch, MS. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
