Leon Lavon Long, 79, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on November 9, 2023. Born on October 20, 1944 in Okmulgee, OK, Mr. Long was a self-made man. After serving in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, Leon graduated from the University of Memphis. He always believed hard work and dedication was the cornerstone of success. Leon worked for many years as a Supervisor with South Central Bell and later AT&T, but he was also a man of many hats. He was truly a “jack-of-all-trades”. Along the way, he was a fiber network installer for Centurytel, he owned L&N Builders, he was a painting contractor, and Project Manager for Erickson Cellular. He loved to travel in his camper, spending time in nature and with his family. Leon lived for his family, and he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Nancy; two children Lori Long Spangler (Mike) and Brian Long; five grandchildren, Meagan Spangler (Mark Smith), Taylor Spangler Welch (Ethan), Dillon Otts (Ashley), and twins Lindsey Spangler and Peyton Spangler; his great granddaughter, Alina Otts; his aunt, Jan Henderson; his sister in law, Dean Long; and his furry sidekick, Toby Tucker. Leon Long lived a good life, and he was truly one of a kind!
