It's hard for me to express the deep feelings I have for my daddy.  He was always (and I know that is a strong word) there for me from my childhood, my college days, my married days, to the day he died.  He always referred to me as his “doll”.  He treated me like a princess and I'll never forget the love I felt every time he looked at me, smiled, and told me “I love you!”  
I was incredibly blessed when my parents moved to MS to be near their grandchildren (and secondarily their children).  My dad lived with us while their house was being built and my mom was packing up the house in NY.  I cherish all the time we got to spend together.  Jonathan was little but really bonded with his Poppa.  Of course, Poppa thought all his grandchildren hung the moon.  I will never forget driving to church when he first moved in with us and him pulling out his index cards and reviewing with me who was who and who was related to whom, etc.  As most of you know, this was the beginning of him knowing almost everyone who walked in the doors of Life Fellowship on Sunday am.  He didn't ask how you were only to walk out the door after church and forget about you until the next Sunday.  He would pray and follow up with anyone who expressed a need to him. Or if he hadn't seen you in a while, he would call to catch up.  There was also the master Birthday list.  This list meant you would receive a call on your Birthday and have the Birthday song sung to you in its entirety.  Another call I received was for my son.   He said he wanted to wish him a “Happy Birthday”.  I was confused because it wasn't the day I gave birth to him.  He was calling to wish Jonathan a “Happy Spiritual Birthday”.  How awesome was that!  He always encouraged my kids to grow in the Lord and they knew they could ask him anything.  Let's just say, occasionally, I would get a few “directive” talks when I was falling down on my job of raising my children in the ways of the Lord.  I only wish he could have seen Joshua be baptized.  Joshua decided he wanted to be baptized while dad was in the hospital and wanted to wait to do so until his Poppa could be there to watch.  We know his Poppa would be grinning ear to ear if he were here to watch that take place.  My kids all knew how important Jesus was in my dad's life.  My children and I could always find my dad on his knees praying before he went to bed every night.  On the many nights they would spend at Nana and Poppa's overnight, he would always encourage them to join in this tradition.  How powerful an impact that was on his grandchildren!  
I was always proud to go places with my dad.  The older I got, the more I realized I treated people with the same sense of dry humor as my dad always did!  Sometimes they get it – sometimes they don't.  Sometimes you didn't even know if he was serious or just kidding.  He loved to have fun!  I'm going to miss our massage and lunch dates!  I'm going to miss watching him cheer my children on in whatever activity they were performing.  In fact, after his transplant, he asked the Physical Therapist when he could get on the floor again.  She looked at him strangely but it was because he couldn't wait to get back on the floor and play with his grandchildren.  Poppa was the race car – train assembler, the Tinker Toy- Erector set man, and the chess and card teacher.  I'm going to miss the long talks about the pros and cons of each decision, whether it be a new car or how to respond to an event in my life.  I'm going to miss him showing up at my work to take me to lunch and him not wanting to leave until he had spoken to most of my co-workers (and teased them about something or another).  I'm going to miss watching kids—not only mine—run up to give Poppa Lloyd a hug and him getting on his knees so he could hug them back.  I'm especially going to miss his big, dimple-showing smiles and twinkling eyes. 
Never once in the last 10 months do I remember my dad complaining.  Believe me, he had plenty to gripe about.  He embraced every moment, whether it was in his home, out running errands, at the ball park, in church, or in a hospital bed.  He saw every person as an opportunity to share his faith and further the kingdom of God.  He was concerned about eternity and where those he came in contact with were going to spend it.  The day he died the hospital chaplain made a comment that my father must have been a very special man because he'd never seen the nurses work so hard on anyone previously nor had he seen so many nurses so upset with his passing.  Toward the beginning of his hospitalization, they all thought he was a retired pastor and couldn't believe it when they found out he was a retired car dealer.  He encouraged everyone he met and always seemed to somehow point them to Jesus.  I remember my son saying that he was never out with Nana and Poppa anywhere when they weren't interjecting their love of Jesus into the conversation.  
No matter what I will always be my daddy's girl (and my husband knows it) and I will always be the Govener's daughter!!!!

The most I remember about my papa was going to any and every sports event for me.  He was always the loudest one cheering whenever I got a fly ball, got an out, made a good pitch, or even got to first base.  That always made it worth practicing a little more to do a little better.  Another thing I really remember is trying to sneak up on him while he was in his office doing stuff on his computer.  Sometimes I would get him but most of the time I didn't scare him.  Then he would tackle me and we would wrestle on the floor until he was too tired to TRY to beat me.  Those were some of the best times I remember with my Papa!

Lloyd is someone I will never forget. His smile and laughter were blessings to all around him. Our prayers are with you and family during this time

Reading over all the comments, it is obvious that Lloyd had a gift of being able to make everyone feel loved and special. He has touched our lives in an unforgettable and everlasting way. His laugh, his smile, his awesome hugs. he will truly be missed by me and my family. Very thankful that he is out of pain and with Jesus, rejoicing with all the energy and strength that he has wanted all these years. And to finally see Jesus face to face...who could say that is a bad thing. Lynn Govener, you put it well, that this was what Lloyd wanted, and who are we to deny him. Lynn, I will call tomorrow. It is a sad, sad day. I was praying that he would pull through and I really though he would. Life will not be the same without him but I am comforted to know that he is no longer in pain. Sending you the biggest, long distance hug. I love you all!

My beloved uncle passed away this morning. He was one of the warmest, most loving men I've ever known and I've loved him my whole life. I know that he's at peace now and I'm just praying for my family and for our strength. I'll miss you, Uncle Lloyd.

My sweet father in law,Lloyd Govener ended the good fight this morning at 4 am after a long battle after a heart transplant in January. I know no man more like Jesus in his ability to love others than Dad G. He was a disciple of Christ in the truest form, in his desire to share Jesus with everyone he met, and take a sincere interest in people in a way I haven't seen in any other. His joyful heart, his wisdom, his love for Jesus, and his true love for people will be a legacy long felt. I take comfort imagining your smile tonight as you at long last receive your crown. We love you so....and will miss you every day until we see you again.

I'm saddened, because we lost a great, Godly man this week.  I cried when I heard of his passing.  He reminded me so much of my sweet father-in-law who's been dancing with Jesus since 2008.  Mr. Lloyd Govener was always smiling, ever encouraging, and praising Jesus all the while.  He always kidded with the kids, and had a warm-handshake and a hug for everyone he came in contact with.




Though we are saddened because he is not with us anymore, we are so happy that we know where he is and that he is no longer suffering.  Over a year's worth of pain and suffering, waiting for, then enduring, then trying to recover from a heart transplant is quite enough I think.  We thank God that He, has relieved his pain and he is now healed.  Though we will miss him, we know “One glad Morning When this Life is O'er” we shall meet again.

He always knew how to make me laugh and I couldn't be in the same room without being put in a head lock laughing my head off. Lloyd comes into the dealership one evening, he is dressed in a tie and sportcoat, he and Lynn are headed somewhere and they are running late, he has checked the oil in the ole suburban (one I ended up buying years later) and is down a quart, I follow him into the shop to turn on some lights and we head for the oil tank. The tank has an auto feature that allows you to set a dial, place a container under the spout and push a button.....the tank will dispense the amount of oil set on the dial. I ask Lloyd if he wants me to pump it....."whats wrong" he says with that huge grin, "think I can't handle it", no boss, I reply, just didn't want you to get dirty,..... he chuckles and sets the dial for one quart, places the container under the spout and pushes the button.....unfortunately, his arm is between the spout and the container.....as the oil pours over his arm and his sportcoat, I have no choice but to suppress a laugh.....he looks at me and says "Lynn is not going to be happy".......I finish putting the oil in the suburban as Lloyd goes into the house to face Lynn....the next day Lynn asked me if the next time the vehicle needs oil if I would take care of it for her so Lloyd wouldn't ruin another sportcoat.....Lloyd just grinned at me from his office....I loved that grin and I will miss it forever, but will hold it always in my heart, I worked with him for over seventeen years and loved most everyday.....he once told me (at my nieces calling hours) that he loved me.....I'm not sure if he knew how much that meant to me at that time....but I can tell you, I loved him right back....rest my special friend, you have earned it!!!!!!

There is so much to say, where does one start to list all the wonderful times, special moments and fond memories of a special man. Lloyd was the kind of special man that you loved instantly ... His smile warmed your heart and made you feel like you were an important person. He respectfully gave you his full attention and listened intently to what you had to say. His laughter was infectious and made you feel appreciated whether your jokes were good or bad. Just being in his presence gave you a feeling of caring for someone who cared about you in return. Our lives have been enriched for knowing him. We will never forget. His love, laughter and kind spirit are a legacy that will live on. The Gov was a great Godly man! He called me every year on 5/23 and told me happy birthday, this is the date Brandy and I were saved on. I don't think I will ever forget the look on Brandy' face as she is coming up to me at church one day. I ask her whats wrong she says he cut my hair! I say who, she says Mr. Govener! He had a pair of scissors and was going to act like he was going to cut her hair but his vision was just a little off and he actually cut a strand of her hair off! I think the worst part of this for me is that I don't have more memories of Uncle Lloyd. I really wish I could have seen him more in the past few years. Most of my memories with him involve being put in head-locks and tickled. That used to drive me crazy but at the same time it was kind of fun. I just wish I could have gotten to know my Uncle Lloyd better as a I grew older - I probably haven't seen him since I graduated high school so I only really have memories of him as a kid. I know he was a great man and I'm sure there's a lot he could have taught me. I just wish I could talk to him one more time.

I remember helping Lloyd out at an RV show one year (too many years ago to mention) and at the time he was wearing those awful contacts that had to be removed with a little suction cup. Lloyd asked me to help take the contacts out with the suction cup and I don't think he realized how squeamish his sister-in-law was. Each time I got hold of the contact with the suction cup, I would release it and the contact would SNAP back onto his eye! Funny, I don't remember him ever asking me for that kind of help again. I really love this man!

I remember when, we first met Lynn and Lloyd we drove to there business and bought a 1995 Tahoe, he was the kindest man and very warm feeling to be around Lynn too, I will miss his sweet smile and hugs he gave all of us, and the many gatherings at there home for the holidays, we love you Lloyd and we will truly miss you:-)

Hearing the news of my wonderful Uncle Lloyd passing away hurts a lot. I remember how he would always make everybody laugh & smile when he was around. I'll never forget his smile. I'll never forget his playful teasing and also the wise words he spoke. I just remember him being so kind. He made a perfect husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, friend, teacher & more to every person he came in contact with and every heart he touched. I sit here and wish so much that I could have one more opportunity to see him and give him a giant hug!! That day will soon come. I was always disappointed not being able to see you enough Uncle Lloyd. My heart and all my prayers go out to my beautiful aunt and my cousins. I love you all and hope to see you soon. God gained another angel & that's just one more that we have to look down on us Rest in peace.

It is a little past 11:00 a.m. Memphis time and the Memorial Service is underway. Praying for all your family that God's comfort

Dear Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. 
Lloyd has surely left an indelible imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him. 
I have been reflecting on our relationship since I last enjoyed our visit in the hospital last November. 
We go back to the days at Fulton Alliance Church and the after church group dinners. All expected Lloyd to be up to something every time he had a crowd.
The lunch times I spent with Lloyd and Lynn at the Cottage Restaurant. The seminars that we spent together where I never knew what interesting humor Lloyd would pull off, then there were his stories, which we never knew how much of it was actually true.
I had many hours on the phone concerning land sale, I never knew whether he was trying to teach me a new lesson or was he stringing me along to one of his notorious humor moments. 
Then there were the trips, especially to Texas, where we had many enjoyable experiences, meals together and just the walking and talking times. 
I truly experienced his love for us, his family and friends. 
He was an example to me/us of walking with Jesus our Christ. The big difference was that Jesus was perfect, but Lloyd, and the rest of us were and are a work in progress. 
Thank you Lloyd and your family for including us as dear friends, closer than brothers and sisters.

You have been my special friend since we met in the spring of 2005. I will miss that big big big belly laugh of yours. You were an inspiration as far as setting the example of always being a friend to everyone. You used the phone very well in making contact with people and making them feel important. For those of us who attended church with Lloyd over the years, you'll understand. You remember how you'd walk into the sanctuary and somebody would bump the back of your knees, you'd turn around, and be greeted by the "Lloyd Laugh" and equally famous "Lloyd Hug"!!! So just wondering, did Jesus come up and bump the back of Lloyd's knees and then give him a hug??!! Does Jesus laugh like Lloyd??!! I am soooo going to miss him!  What a wonderful way to celebrate and honor the life of Lloyd Govener!!! I still remember a church event shortly after Lloyd and Lynn started coming to Life Fellowship. Our youngest son, David, was in middle school at the time (about 13 - 14 yrs old, I think) The youth group had a bake sale "auction." David had baked cookies by himself with no help from mom - as per Teresa Lamar's instructions to the kids (and they really were good!) He put them on a plastic plate and covered them with Saran wrap. When we got to church we noticed that a few of the girls had brought these lavishly decorated cakes that looked like they came from a bakery. Bidding started on the cakes and they brought in some really big bids. Then it was David's turn to auction his cookies. Bidding started at just a few dollars and I could tell David was really disappointed. But then Lloyd stood up and bid $40. After Lloyd won the cookies he and David spent some time talking. I don't know if Lloyd ever realized what that simple act of kindness meant to my son. Later when David started college Lloyd would call him just to chat and see how he was doing. We all love Lloyd and will miss his smile, his laugh, his hugs, and most especially his faith.

Lloyd, most loving FULL of laughter. When I would enter church i found myself looking for Lloyd, listening for his laugh. Pastor Patrick would point Lloyd out for something in his sermon always good for a Huh! from Lloyd and followed by a roar of laughter from everyone else. Today we lost a great man, my father-in-law, Lloyd Govener. There are many reasons why he was special to me. Not only did he raise a Godly daughter who would one day become my wife, his devotion to my children was unending. My kids were constantly showered with praise and unconditional love. Baseball and football games were rarely missed and school programs were always attended. I think my kids would have moved in with him and "nana" if given the chance. 
I had mentally prepared myself for the phone call this morning telling me he was gone; what I couldn't prepare for was telling my children they would not see "papa" again. Most people do not know who much Lloyd suffered these last few years. We are thankful that he is now at rest, but it hurts thinking of those things yet to come that he will miss.

The man of many laughs... Who never met a stranger... Who loved you no matter what... That had the best most contagious laugh I have ever heard. The man that loved his wife... He was an awesome husband, father, grandpa, friend, brother, uncle and the list goes on. He is now in the arms of Jesus! Resting peacefully... Still laughing I sure Thank you Lloyd Govener for the awesome example of Christ you lived every day. The Lawricks love the Govener family and will miss Lloyd greatly! And Chels will miss her Poppa Lloyd... A man that Chels will always remember for his generosity of laughter and teasing praying for you all!! Lloyd lived a fulfilled life that is now a celebration.

 I didn't know Lloyd well, but I never Remember Lloyd without a joyful smile on His face. From the first time we met He and Lynn at a class fellowship it was clear that they both LOVED the LORD with All their Heart, All their soul and All their Strength... and they LOVED others.

I will never forget Lloyd's smile.  He was never without one and he was a mighty man of God.  I will truly miss him.  But one day I will see his smiling face again.

There will be great void in our lives because we have lost a dear and sweet family member. We have always looked forward to sharing holidays and other occasions with Lloyd and his wonderful family.His kind and wonderful personality will be missed by all of us. Now he will live on in our memories. He has found eternal peace.

We will remember Lloyd although we haven't kept in contact since he was a car dealer.  He had the bluest eyes I have ever seen and they did twinkle.  Rich's father had those same blue eyes.  
What a beautiful tribute to your father and husband!  I enjoyed seeing how much you both enjoyed your grandchildren and how precious they are to you both.

I have been thinking about writing this all week, and have had a difficult time putting into words what Lloyd has meant to me and my family.  I guess in my mind, the picture says it all, he was always cheerful and smiling even the last few years when i know how bad he was hurting, he didn't want attention on himself, he was more concerned with how others were doing.  The big belly laugh will never be forgotten.  It was contagious, I remember a skit we did for a small group where we just wanted Llloyd to laugh, he could, and it was so funny.  I am sure someone still has the video!!  Most of all Lloyd was a confidant, a true friend to anyone he met, he was the kind of person who was genuinely concerned if there was something wrong or you needed advice.  He listened, intently, not how some do where they look away and you know they are thinking about something else as you talk to them, Lloyd cared about people.  He always supported myself and my wife, he prayed for us I know because he told me on any occasions.  I remember an outing with the men's ministry where we did a ropes course, Lloyd did not want to go because he felt he couldn't do the course,  he went anyway, and I know it was only because he wanted to see a successful outing because I had put it together.  That was Lloyd in a nutshell, caring giving, non-judgmental,unselfish and loving.  He never met a stranger!  The world needs more people like Lloyd Govenor and he will be sorely missed.  I had a special moment with him and Lynn in the hospital several weeks ago.  I was glad to be able to pray with him and let him know I loved him.  I joked with him about chasing the nurses around when he got better, I got a little smile!!  Rest in peace my brother, you are a true man of God!!

While living in Rochester for 38 years, Lloyd and Lynn sold me many suburbans. When the Govener's moved to Olive Branch, I took my new wife to meet them. They welcomed her with open arms and with warm hearts. Patty, my bride, felt so loved and accepted. During our stay, we were able to share in many wonderful meals prepared by Lynn, with family, and friends, and were included in two bible study groups with potlucks, at the Govener's beautiful home.  Lloyd and Lynn worked so well together in their ministries. They had the gift of 'hospitality'. They were strong prayer warriors and they let the Holy Spirit guide them in their dealings with people and their needs. 
Lloyd had the heartiest laugh and his dimples stood out to be part of his smile. Lloyd had a sunny disposition, making everyone "his friend"! Lloyd gave us wonderful advice, because we asked and we listened. Lloyd was a man who truly LOVED, and in return HE was loved by many. When Pam came over with the grandkids one night for dinner, Lloyd bragged to us about Lynn's cooking abilities and organizing food for the sick or someone in need. He played chess with Jonathan while Lynn played a game with the other two children. Lloyd sat on the floor with all three kids in the family room, helping them build something... laughing and talking to them all the time. Lloyd gave the biggest bear hugs... so full of warmth and love. One day, while I was in the kitchen, Lloyd got a call from a friend who told him another friend in their group was having a problem. He called all the men together for an impromptu 'lunch out with the boys'. At a later group meeting in the Govener's home, I overheard a man who was having a problem, thank Lloyd for 'making his day'... calling the men together for laughter and for prayer. The thoughtfulness of that simple act of kindness, was life-changing for this man, just as our lives were forever changed from that week in October, 2011. What a Christ-like, man of God, spreading the good news of John 3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.
We look forward to the day when we will see Lloyd again, hear him laugh, and feel his warm and loving embrace.
Till we meet again! Oh what a wonderful day that will be! 
Jesus will tell us of all the people who were 'loved into heaven' by Lloyd and Lynn. 
We love the Govener family. What a legacy Lloyd left for his wife, children, and grandchildren. We will miss him, but cherish all the fond memories we have made together. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family... the family of God. We are praying for your family. Remember Patty's song, "One Day At A Time". He will give you the strength to get through this trying time of sorrow and grief.

Not long after meeting Lloyd at church, my family soon realized how special he was. Always near the main entrance, always smiling, always cheerful, always encouraging, and always expressing an interest in how we were doing. One time when asking me how I was, I shared with him that I was going to be sued by a plumber who had worked for our construction company and had unscrupulously overcharged for his services on a particular project. Lloyd asked if he could come to the courthouse, sit in, and pray for me as I testified and presented my case. Of course, I agreed and he showed up everyday for the whole week-long trial interceding on my behalf. Lloyd will be remembered as a man of God who "loved" people and spent his life proving it.

Dad, there are not words to say right now that can ever express all the things I want to tell you... You were the first in the family to embrace me and I always felt your love for me, though you did not have to give it. Your way of earnestly caring about others and taking a sincere interest in them, seeing their needs and drawing in to them, is perhaps the best example of loving like Jesus that I have seen in this life. I wish I had more time with you, but you taught me so much in the years I knew you... Deep and important things you probably didn't even realize, that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I will teach my children of your love for wisdom, your joy, your passionate pursuit of  Christ and your sincere love of people, and your legacy will be felt for long after this time. I love you so much, and rejoice in the perfect peace you have found in the embrace of Christ as He welcomes His good and faithful servant. You have certainly earned it Dad... but know that your absence has left a hole here, and you are  missed. Until we meet again...

Wow, don't really know how to start this.  I guess number 1, the picture says it all.  Lloyd filled a room with laughter wherever he went, his laugh was contagious, and I can't say I have ever heard one that was so sincere ever!!  Lloyd has been a special part of our family for about 10 years.  He took a special interest in me for some reason, which I feel a extreme indebtedness for.  He was sincere in conversation and thoughtfulness throughout the whole time I have known him.  When you talked, he listened.  I had several conversations with him complaining about this or that where he would just listen and speak very objectively, never really condoning or not, just listened.  He was special in that sense.  Every time we would have these conversations he would offer his wisdom and advice and offer a word of encouragement.  He always wanted the best for everyone and never wanted to put anyone down, it was always objective.  I felt like he saw the hurt or disappointment, but would always be an encourager.  He always supported anything I did.  One time specifically, I was running the men's ministry at Life Fellowship at the time and we had an outing to do a ropes course in Oxford.  I begged Lloyd to go, he was very apprehensive about his heart and his ability to do the ropes course.  He did go, and I know it was only for me,  that was just the kind of guy he was, he wanted me to be successful so he went knowing how bad he was hurting and how difficult it would be.  That is Lloyd in a nutshell, he put others in front of himself, and i am a better person for knowing him.  I saw him several weeks ago in the hospital and had held his hand and told him i loved him,  and he squeaked out he loved me too even though he was in so much pain, I am glad I was able to see him as I had dreaded for the last 9 months seeing him in the condition he was in.  He was also special to my wife Janeen and loved seeing her and supporting her.  I also remember a small group we had and a skit we did for life fellowship called American Idolatry,  all Llloyd had to do was laugh, and it was so fun, I will miss that from him.  Lloyd was one of the few people I could actually call friend.  He was someone you could call and talk to and just be yourself and it was okay.  I could tell him anything, and did.  He didn't judge, he was just a friend.  God has gained and I cant wait to hear him and see him again on the other side!!  Bill Baltes and Family

Lloyd has been my brother (in-law) and treasured member of our family for over 47 years and we will all miss him but treasure the time we had with him.  He and Lynn are great examples of Christ on earth and their influence on others is inspiring.  Life will never be the same, but oh, what memories!  We love y'all.

I met Lloyd for the first time in the dinner line on Wednesday night at church.  I got in line and was "fishing" for my money to pay when a voice behind me said, "I'm breaking in front of you."  I looked around and saw Lloyd with this big smile on his face.  I told him to go ahead and he explained that his wife was in front of me.  I met him soon after that in Sunday School class and learned that personality of his was such that he was always teasing and smiling.  Last year, Charlie, my husband was surprised on his birthday, October 4, by a phone call and a boisterous rendition of "Happy Birthday".  He had no idea who it was at the time and Lloyd finished singing and told Charlie that it was he.  It was a special surprise and I'm sure neither of us will ever forget that.  Lloyd was a wonderful Godly man and the Lord used his smile and sense of humor to brighten the room.  We miss him but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

Memories to share:

Lloyd and Lynn's visit to see us in California in the fall of 2010 was a special time.  We visited, relaxed, enjoyed the nearby ocean and aquarium, and attended our church together.  (Yes, we have pictures!)  We're so glad they were willing and able to make the trip, and that we could be together again.  Good memories!

Other treasured memories include the time we were able to spend at Legoland with Pam, David, Jonathan, Joshua, and Julianna in June 2012.  We also all enjoyed a lovely Southern California beach day with Tim, Tina, and Sarah.  Lloyd really encouraged us all to do this.

The most recent memory was a very special “Happy Birthday” phone call and song for Pauline in June.  Lloyd usually called and sang enthusiastically for each birthday.  This year included Lloyd, his daughter Pam, and granddaughter Julianna.  Lynn remembered the date and helped make it happen.  

Brother, we're thankful your pain and suffering are over and you are now in Jesus' arms.  He is our Hope, Rock, and Redeemer.  And we praise Him for His Love.

May God guide and comfort each of us daily.  We are thankful that “He is with us always”!

While Lloyd will sorely be missed, he's no longer suffering and in a much better place in heaven.  

I will always remember Lloyd's cheerful smile and how he always sought me out to say hello on Sundays following the church service.  Even after we moved from Olive Branch to Scottsdale, he still called to wish me a happy birthday.  Now Lloyd is cheerfully greeting people in heaven.

Lynn, you and Lloyd have been a tremendous witness to so many people by your faithfulness and trusting in the Lord through these past few months.  I'm sure you made a lasting impression on the hospital staff and many others during these challenging times.  

I won't be there for the party following the funeral service but your family is in my prayers.

We knew Lloyd through a working relationship in Wayne Co.,NY. He will be missed by all.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Govener family.

I am so thankful that the Lord gave our Sunday School class at Longview the opportunity to know Lloyd.  It was a short time, but long enough to realize how special he was.  His beautiful contagious smile will be missed. We look forward to a happy reunion one day.

Lynn, you might not remember me ,but I met you when I first joined Life Fellowship almost 5 years ago at Connect. I want you to know I have been praying steadily for you all and am so sorry about Lloyd's passing. What a testimony you both gave and are still giving! I admire your strength and spirit and know you have touched many lives. I pray God's blessings and comfort to you at this time.

We can still picture Lloyd with that joyful grin he always showed. He was a caring, gentle man who will be remembered for his wise mind and warm heart.

Well, I have been thinking about what to write for several days now and still don't know where to start! Mr. Lloyd or Poppa (as my kids sometimes called him this as well) has been in our lives for 18 years now. I remember when the kids were younger they were unsure of what to expect when he walked in a room, but as they got older they knew to brace for a hug or a head lock or maybe even being taken down to the floor and wrestled!! Lloyd always had a smile on his face and knew how to brighten up a room when he walked in. He was always on the sidelines to watch his grandkids play ball or cheer, even when he felt awful and had been in bed all day! His love for his family was unconditional! His family was his life and he made a point to spend time with all those he loved! He will be truly missed, but I rest assured knowing he is heaven now and not hurting anymore! We love you Poppa!!

Our family will greatly miss Lloyd; better known to us as "Trouble".  His smile was contagious and his laughter was incredibly infectious. He dished out tons of good medicine when he laughed.  He was always ready with a word of encouragement or very thought provoking words but never too hasty in speaking them. We can picture him now, thinking carefully, rubbing his  chin, practicing what His Father in Heaven taught, to be slow to speak.  His words were like apples of gold on a silver platter. 

Philemon 7; We have great joy and encouragement from your   love, because the hearts of the  saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

It was my great pleasure to attend your wedding in the little church in Cleveland so many years ago.  I can still remember the day and the excitement among all your friends and family.  You were the first of the gals in our high school group to be married and we were all excited about your beautiful dress and all the plans for the day!!  I remember Lloyd sweeping you off your feet on the front steps of the church and watching all the fun as photos were taken. I remember visiting you in Wolcott several times in the years that followed and what fun we had with all of you and with Lloyd's pranks and great sense of humor.  During our last visit with you there, we all went out on the lake.  Lloyd was "driving" the boat, and we went tubing.  When I went on the tube, I rolled from side to side, adjusting my body weight to the waves that made the tube bob left and right.  He could not get me off the tube and was totally frustrated.  As a result, he made sharper quick turns, left to right, and the waves from side to side got higher and wilder! Finally, I could hold on no more and suddenly rolled off the side with one big wave.  He was so thoroughly happy with himself and laughed with great delight as he brought the boat around to pick me up!  I will never forget the great fun we had during our visits and his zest for life!  We will remember him with good thoughts and fond memories!!!

My sweet brother-in-love , Lloyd, has been in my life since I was 12 or 13 and he graciously took my twin, Dana, and I on a movie date with his future wife, our sister, Lynn.  We poked at each other and giggled, exclaiming " they're holding hands"!  Lloyd went on to become so much more than a brother-in-law to me.  He was a friend, a counselor, a big brother.  He won our hearts and I will miss so much his love, his kindness, his goodness, and most of all , his laugh.  Rest easy, sweet brother.

We met Lloyd through a small group through our church. He was always very friendly and made everyone else feel important. I loved having small group at our house because he and Fred had such a great time. There was much laughter when those two got together. Lloyd's laugh definitely was original and brought joy to many. He was a gentle giant that made an impact in this world.  May his example be followed by many and his legacy continue for many generations. Till we meet again...

Pam, while I never met your dear Daddy, he gave me the gift of a sweet friend in you.  You and your family are in my thoughts.  I know your Daddy is wlking hand in hand with Jesus now, no more pain.  Let the Precious Memories flood your soul.

Lloyd always had such a quiet, kind spirit.  He had a quiet mannerism about him, but when he spoke it was full of Godly wisdom and made such an impact for the Lord.  He has gone home to be with his Lord and will be missed greatly.

You have been my special friend since we met in the spring of 2005. I will miss that big big big belly laugh of yours. You were an inspiration as far as setting the example of always being a friend to everyone. You used the phone very well in making contact with people and making them feel important. I bet you already know everyone in Heaven by now. You were a gift to us here and now a joy in The presence of The Lord. Miss you my friend, but you are where you need to be with no more pain, suffering or tubes. You are now walking by sight! Patty and I will miss you, special friend.

We'll always remember Lloyd for his smile and his unique hearty laugh but most of all for how he made us feel. He loved people and was genuinely interested in their lives. We had the  privilege to visit with Lloyd while he was waiting for his heart and though we went there to bless him we came away feeling we were the ones that had been blessed. God must have had something really important for Lloyd to do in heaven because his passing left a really big hole here. He will be so missed by so many.

I'll always remember Lloyd's firm handshake, genuine smile, and his "never met a stranger" personality.  He was one of the first people to greet us when we started attending Life Fellowship Church and we were lucky enough to be in the same small group as Lloyd.  His faith was amazing and inspirational.  I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to get to know Lloyd and had the privilege of being able to call him a friend.  God Speed my friend.

Mr. Lloyd words can not express how missed you will be.  We loved you dearly. You made us laugh, smile, think of others and always made us feel better about ourselves.  You were just a natural at loving people.  We thank you for that,  we will see you soon.
