Mary Nell Smith

Mary Nell Smith, 66, passed away on January 25, 2026, at Iris Cove Health & Rehabilitation in Memphis, Tennessee. Mary’s life was shaped by both love and struggle. She was a caring woman who, in her own way, showed deep concern for her family and those close to her. She spent time caring for her mother, Helen, and her sister, Dottie, and worked for many years in office settings. Mary found comfort in quiet routines. She enjoyed watching television, reading her Bible, and appreciating flowers, as well as spending time dog-sitting for her son — moments that brought her a sense of peace and familiarity. She is survived by her only child, Charles (Charlie) Smith, and his wife, Ashley; and her granddaughter, Cadence Colburn. She is also survived by one niece and two nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Millard (Chuck) Charles Smith II; her parents, Robert Murray and Helen Price; her stepfather, Raymond Briggs; and her sisters, Janet (Jan) Callaway and Dorothy (Dottie) Roberts. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
