

Suellen “Sue” Kaye Hardebeck, 66, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. She was born in Covington, KY, to the late Josephine E. Preston Hardebeck and Herman John Hardebeck. Sue was the youngest of four siblings, including the late Victoria “Vickie” Lynn Hardebeck DeFoer.
She was a graduate of Sheffield High School, Class of 1977, and attended Christian Brothers College. Sue had a fierce determination in every job she undertook, from working as a clerk at TG&Y, to serving as a dance instructor with Arthur Murray Studios, to managing a Pizza Hut location. She retired from FedEx as a Senior Planning Operations Analyst and received a Customer Service Excellence Award.
Sue volunteered with the FedEx/St. Jude Golf Tournament and especially enjoyed spending time playing with her nieces and nephews. She was most dedicated and steadfast in her devotion to her Catholic faith, prayer life, evangelization efforts, and volunteer work with her parish at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown. Sue coordinated the Tuesday Night Holy Hour, served on the Vocations Committee, led the Divine Mercy Chaplet for school students, led the rosary, served as a lector, assisted with administrative tasks, and faithfully did whatever was asked of her.
She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Jo Hardebeck Soard of Memphis, TN; her brother, H. John Hardebeck, Jr. (Tammy) of Havelock, NC; three nieces, Josette Lorrai Nase (Andrew), Nicole Alane Harmon (Chad), Mary Amanda Jones; two nephews, David Alan Soard, Jr. (Margaret), Herman John Hardebeck, III (Lindsay). Sue also leaves behind nine great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; her uncle, Raymond Hardebeck (Hilda); brother-in-law, Kevin DeFoer, and many cousins and loving friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8151 Poplar Ave Germantown, TN 38138.
In lieu of flowers, and out of respect for Sue’s severe allergic reactions, the family requests that donations be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
