William Dean Byars, Sr.

William Dean Byars, Sr., 78, of Olive Branch, Mississippi died on October 29, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Byars retired from the highway department of the State of Tennessee; he graduated from Somerville High School and attended the University of Tennessee. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and the Arlington Masonic Lodge #641. The family will receive guests on Friday, November 1 from 5 PM – 8 PM and funeral services will be Saturday, November 2 beginning at 10 AM all at Brantley Funeral Home located at 6875 Cockrum Street, Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow in Arlington City Cemetery in Arlington, Tennessee. Mr. Byars was preceded in death by wife Lena Zellner Byars and his son William Dean Byars, Jr. He is survived by his wife Ruth Byars; daughters Susan Smith (Keith), Hope Patrick (Jim), Dena Modica (Paul), Ann Whisenhunt (Gordon); his brother, Jesse Byars (Mary); eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
