Born in Forestburg, Alberta, to Josias and Bessie Shaw, Fran passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 84 years. Fran moved to Oliver at the young age of 2 and lived there most of her life. She married Bill Taylor in 1944 and they worked very hard together raising 5 children and running Taylor Trucking and Excavating, as well as, an Orchard and The Green Acres Mobile Home Park until Bill’s passing in 1977. Fran was an awesome Mom and Grandmother and she loved music and dancing. She was an active member of the Oliver United Church and the Oliver Senior Centre. She married Tom Humberstone in 1989 and they had many fun years travelling extensively throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. They moved to Kelowna in 1999 where soon after she became ravaged by Alzheimer’s disease. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Village of Smith Creek where she was shown compassion and respect. Pre-deceased by her husband’s Thomas “Tom” Humberstone (2009), William “Bill” Arthur Taylor (1977), her parents Josias and Bessie Shaw, brothers Gordon, Russell, Arnold and Ernie Shaw and daughter-in-law Kathy Taylor. She will be sadly missed by her children Bill Taylor (Joan), Keremeos, Judy (Glenn Korol), Armstrong, Bob Taylor (Darleen), Kamloops, Ken Taylor (Ann), West Kelowna, Donna (Claude Rinfret), West Vancouver, daughter-in-law Peggy Taylor (Kamloops), and step-children Debbie (Brent Johnson), Calgary, Tim (Lorna) Humberstone, Alberta and Patti (Lee Carpenter), Kelowna. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Laurisa, (Dave), Bill Jr. (Kirby), Glenn Jr., John (Loretta), Leanne (John), Sherrie (Al Karim), Keith (Tracey), Vickie (Mike), Marc, and Marianne and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Billy, Josh, Mathew, Christian, Mitchell, Rhys, Sydni, Morgan, Ben, Taylor, Emma, and Asha. Fran is also survived by her sisters-in-law Lena Shaw, Oliver and Pat Taylor, Kelowna and brother in law Ken (Joan) Taylor, New Brunswick, many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. A Service of Remembrance for Fran will be held at Oliver United Church, 9915 358th Avenue on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11 o’clock, officiated by Ann White. Interment will follow at the Oliver Cemetery. A luncheon will be served in the church hall following the Interment.
