

Darrell was born February 21, 1947, in Sioux City, IA, to Jim and Elsie Eriksen of Hubbard, NE. He attended Hubbard Elementary School and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1965. He then completed an associate degree from the Nebraska College of Business CE. Darrell served in the Iowa National Guard. During active duty, he received top honors in Reconnaissance Training.
On July 18, 1970, Darrell married Genene Heineman and became father to son, Brent and daughter, Kim. He worked for Management Services in Omaha and later owned Siouxland Auto Auction in Sioux City, IA, working many years in car sales.
He enjoyed horse racing, meeting new friends, and will be remembered as a man of genuine character, quick wit, and story telling (often embellished). He was a devoted husband and great dad.
Darrell is survived by wife, Genene; son, Brent (Brooke Hopkins); daughter, Kim (Jeff) Waddelow; granddaughter, Kendall Waddelow; grandson, Ryan Waddelow; brother, Jim Eriksen; sisters, Sally Morgan, Connie (Rob) Lamp, and Gayle (Steve) Carper; Brother, Tracy Eriksen; sisters-in-law, Trish Eriksen and Jane (Cary) Koopman; brother-in-law, Ken (Jan) Heineman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Ron Eriksen; and sister-in-law, Judy Eriksen.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at SoMa Gallery, 1125 Leavenworth St., Omaha, NE 68108. Please park on 11th St. and Leavenworth or City of Omaha Parking Garage (11th & Jackson). Private graveside inurnment will be held at a later date.
