Deb was born on November 4, 1956, to Joyce & Frank Erickson. She was the oldest and bossiest of 5 children. She graduated from Ralston High School in 1976.
In her youth, Deb was Ralston-renowned for her mouth, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always shared her thoughts even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but likely what you needed to hear.
Deb lived life loud, on her own terms, and with no apologies. Deb was a doer and a mover if something needed to be done, she could be trusted to get it done and done now. She worked hard at every job, most significantly Crown Rubber, for many years as an in-home babysitter while her children were growing up, owning her own cleaning business, Goodwill, and landing at Baker’s Deli for 18 years until she retired. After retirement, she worked for her shortest and toughest boss yet: watching her grandson Sebastian, whom she loved deeply. They spent their days reading, playing, and arguing about silly things as you do with an argumentative toddler.
Besides being sassy, Deb was most known for her love of working in her yard. Whether it was burying an old bathtub to make a pond, digging her own pool, planting thousands of flowers, or most importantly collecting more rocks than you could shake a stick at. The only limit to her yard work was a long Nebraska winter, where she was forced inside to start baking cookies for Christmas. Her greatest joy in baking mass quantities of cookies was to share them with the people she loved. She will be remembered for all of these and the hundreds of doilies her daughter forcefully inherited.
Deb was predeceased by her parents, Joyce & Frank Erickson; and her beloved sister, Barbie. She is survived by many family and friends but will be sorely missed by her daughter, Christina (Robert); her son, Allen; and her very loved grandchildren, Ophelia, Mason, Orion, Sebastian, and Oliver.
A visitation for Deborah will be held Monday, November 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 4912 Leavenworth St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106.
