

Dixie grew up in East Omaha and graduated from Tech High School. He proudly served his country by joining the US Marine Corp. He later married Judy Klabunde and had 3 children Dixie Jr, Dene' and Dawn. The respect he learned in the Marine Corp carried through to his family life.
Some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors. He enjoyed camping trips with his family and time on the water boating with family. He had a lifelong love of horses and many animals throughout his life including pet llamas and a monkey.
Family vacation were treasured with the annual Memorial Day weekend trip to Adventureland becoming a beloved tradition filled with Oak Ridge Boys music, laughter, rides and lasting memories.
Home was meaningful to him first at Beaver Lake, his A Frame home that he built himself and then his acreage in Nelson, NE where he had horses, cows or as he called them Heifers he named Dene', Jennifer and Dawn, goats, chickens, donkeys and his llamas, one named Obama. He also enjoyed collecting knives while living in Nelson, a hobby that closely resembled hoarding.
He will be remembered by his family as Dad, Grandpa Dixie and Great Grandpa Dixie. His stories and traditions will live on with his family. As he always told us "Everyone should have a little Dixie in them" RIP DAD
Dixie is preceded in death by his father, Glenn B. Davis; mother, Lula Mae Davis; sister, Betty Davis; and brothers, Gerald B. Davis and Francis S. "Sonny" Davis. He is survived by his children, Dixie Lee Davis Jr. (Jennifer), Dene' L. Burns (Jim), and Dawn L. Bonacci (John); grandchildren, Dottie Owen (Brandon), Dixie Lee Davis III, Kylie Points (Kenny), Brianna Burdick (Trey), Alyssa Wessel (Cody), Brett Bonacci, and Connor Bonacci (Addison); great-grandchildren, Delaney, Braxton, Tinley, and Forrest Owen, Harper and Easton Burdick, Dixie Lee Davis IV and Colton Davis, and Wyatt Points.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 25, 5-7 pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest. Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 26 at 10 am at Westlawn-Hillcrest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
