Donna LuDee Holmes May 29, 1933 – April 13, 2020, age 86 years, passed away peacefully from this life to her new life in Christ on April 13, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska. LuDee was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado to her parents Richard and E. Louise Hammond. LuDee graduated in the Columbus, Nebraska high school class of 1951. She graduated from Immanuel Hospital College of nursing in 1954. She married the love of her life, her husband Harry Holmes, on May 1, 1955. To their union was added the blessings of 2 children and 2 grandchildren.
LuDee spent her life doing the work that she so loved and was so skilled at - being a nurse.
LuDee’s other passion was her family and friends. In addition to family gatherings, she loved being an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bellevue, the Order of Easter Star Papillion Chapter, Job’s Daughters Bethel 53 and the Omaha Area Mother Singers. She also volunteered at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Holland Performing Arts Center.
LuDee shared many funny, joking, laughing, happy and comical times and will be missed by those who knew her.
LuDee was preceded in death by her parents Richard and E. Louise Hammond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry, who died in May of 1998.
LuDee is survived by son Robert (Becky) Holmes of Glenwood, Iowa; daughter Cindy (John) Thompson of Papillion, Nebraska; granddaughters Kirstin and Bailey Thompson, both of Papillion, Nebraska; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
