Preceded in death by parents Elmer and Olinda Gavin, his Brother Johnny and sister Lois. Survived by; wife Marlene R. Gavin, brothers Alvin + family, Herman + family, Marian + family, Sons Todd, Alan (Kay), Scott (Lori) and Jim. Also by Grandchildren Alison (Rob), Mikayla (Matt), Max (Taryn), Jared, Lexis (Parker) + Great grandchildren (Christopher, Benton, Kalina, Morrigan, Kuiper and Tate). Harry was a wonderful and loving husband and a terrific father. (We all loved and will remember his smile and laugh, even if things got tough.) We will miss him. Back in his high school years, Harry lived across Y street from Marlene. To get her attention, he was always washing that white and pink Ford Galaxy, waiting for any chance he could to talk to her.
When Harry got started in the service station, at Standard oil, everyone admired and respected his knack for auto repair and a good work ethic.
Harry Enjoyed working with people and fixing up cars! He enjoyed raising 4 boys, and running his used car lot. Any kind of car or truck, chances are good that Harry had one, fixed it up and sold it on his car lot.
Trips to Missouri, Colorado, and Arizona were great memories we always heard stories about. Harry took Marlene and his sons fishing as often as possible. We sure enjoyed going to sunset speedway! Everyone who knew Harry can tell lots of stories and good times they had with him.
A visitation for Harry will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 5701 Center St, Omaha, Nebraska 68106, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
