John was the BEST ENCOMPASS Mentor someone could have. He was great to be friends with and even adversaries. I will always remember the time we played golf in 2014 in Pleasanton.  He was great to be with. 

Its hard to properly state the impact John had on people. He lifted those up around him. He was great at everything he did. Golf, bowling, IT, people watching; you name it.  He made work more fun than it really was and was always helping someone out.  His loss has impacted a lot of folks but those of us that knew him have great memories to look back on. The Giants and Niners lost one of their biggest fans. Gunther may be gone but will never be forgotten.

So sad to hear this news. John was always so kind, patient and helpful. May he rest in Peace and be free of any technical issues up in heaven. Will miss him. My condolences to his family. 

I am SO saddened to hear that one of our finest friends from Ellie Mae is no longer with us.  

John was my favorite mentor - when collaborating with John on projects or reported discrepancy, he always worked with a smile and would get really excited if it was something new to me, that John could share his knowledge  about. 

John wasn't just a coworker you spend 8 hours of a day with, he was so much more.  Always kind, caring and willing to help.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing.  He really was a great friend, co-worker and man to anyone who came to know him.  I only wish we all had the chance to express our appreciation to him in person for his wit,  intelligence, love of sports, all things outdoors, the list goes on.  My fondest memory of John was in the Omaha office.  He would get off the phone with a particularly challenging problem or customer and take a break.  He would stop by near my desk to visit and play with our office therapy dog,  Kismet.  You could tell just from that interaction that John was a good egg and appreciated the little things in life.  He will be missed by many.  Rest in peace John C.

I had the pleasure of working under John as a Tier 1 Program Analyst at Ellie Mae.

I am saddened to hear about John's passing.  He was a really nice guy and we were able to work together for many hours.  He used to make me laugh everyday and he always challenged my intellect.  I was able to be successful here at Ellie Mae/ICE in in large part to John's willingness to teach me anything I needed.

I first met John during my job interview with the Support team for Ellie Mae.  During the interview, John told me that Ellie Mae was a great company and then talked about sports for the remainder of the interview. John was a mentor to me, a friend, and one of the best co-workers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

John was one of the greatest friends I met in my life, he was so kind and gentle and so smart and knowledgeable and at the same time so humble and considerate and always ready to help others including colleagues and clients. Whoever knew him loved his positive personality. I always consider myself so blessed, since I had a great friend, colleague and more than those a wonderful brother like John in my life. I met John in 2010 at Ellie Mae as co-worker.  I remember him always helping me when I’m stuck with a customer. He is very straight forward, he will say things as it is and  will not sugar coat things. I remember him showing me where his pills are and asked me to put these pills on his mouth if he will drop on floor.  He is brutal honest and kind hearted.  John is like an uncle to me.  He likes golf, wrist watches, truck/jeep, guns.  John my friend, I will miss you.

I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for John. Between his help as a client, to his help as a co-worker and all the great conversations within. He helped drive my passion to learn. I was sad to leave EM a few years ago and am saddened to see him leave all of us now.  We'll miss the hell out of you John. #gogiants

This is such shocking sad news. John was the SQL guru. You have helped us so much with your technical expertise. You always supported my children's fund raising events like purchasing Boy scouts popcorn and Girl scout cookies. You might have gone physically,  however you will live in our memories forever.

I'm so sad to hear of John's passing. I met him in 2012 when I began working at EllieMae. Such a nice man with a wicked sense of humor. Always willing to stop and explain things so that they were easily understood. My condolences to his family. May his memory be a blessing to you. 

I met John when I began working for Ellie Mae. What a great guy.  He was always so patient and took the time to help everyone.  His kindness was one of his many strengths, he will be greatly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I've always enjoyed our ridesharing days. I never knew what a terrible voice you had, until you've cranked up rock & roll songs. Thirty minutes of torture seems like forever! John was always a funny, warm hearted, dependable friend and co-worker.  He was a great bowling captain that never seemed to mind that I couldn't bowl worth a darn.  I am truly sorry to know he is no longer with us.   Peace be with you John.

I met John at Ellie Mae in 2006 and he made quite the impression on me. He was a real character who had a sharp wit and whimsical sense of humor that touched many people over the years.  John had a big personality and never worried about letting you know what was on his mind, which I always appreciated :). He was known for being an individual who could always be depended on to help a co-worker or customer, no matter what, and he personally helped train a lot of our Support staff over the years. He was a man of routine and for many years, he would be the first one in the office to open it up at 5am - there was something about that which always reassured me... It's been a couple of years since I'd seen or talked with John, but I will always hold fond memories of him when I think back. My sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones for the loss.

I've had the great pleasure of working with John over a decade. He was a great mentor & friend of mine. He will be greatly missed by his friends & family

I am so grateful for having known John through our Ellie Mae family. His sense of humor was awesome and I sincerely enjoyed our convos. I feel honored to have known you in this life and will always carry your memory with me. Rest In Peace and Power my friend. Please know your presence was felt on this earth. 

John was a great guy, he will be missed. I worked with John and became golf buddies with John when we worked at Ellie Mae for at least ten years. He was always helpful, kind, and funny. My thoughts are with John and family. 

I first knew John through the eyes of a customer.  He had the patience of a Saint (I know because I wasn't always the best customer to work with)!  He was always willing to help and lend a hand and there wasn't much that didn't seem to be outside of his wheelhouse.  After a few years as a customer, we became co-workers.  John was a gentle and humble giant.  He was loyal, thoughtful and kind.  Rest in peace sweet friend.  

John, or as a few of us called him in the office, "Gunther" was a great man. He was dependable, reliable and a man of his word. I enjoyed our conversations about the Giants, politics and guns. It saddens me to hear about his passing and I hope his daughter knows how much he loved being a grandpa. I still remember him telling me how he and his grandkid were playing Angry Birds while attending the Giants parade several years ago. Rest in peace bro.

I've known and worked with John for 15 years and have many good memories with him both inside and outside of work, from golfing,  hunting , deep sea fishing, just to name a few.  I am sad to hear that you had passed, RIP my friend.

We worked that last 7-8 years together at Ellie Mae, now IMT.
I would always get a laugh when walking over to JC's desk to discuss anything from golf (his fav) fishing up near Pinecrest, politics, SF Giants.

He had some a rich background of knowledge with Encompass and he was one of my go-to guys when I needed to know how things normally "work".

I will miss my friend JC, an obvious athlete, Californian outdoorsman.
