Bob Frankland native of Omaha, was known by his family and friends as Uncle Bud or just Bob. He was a deeply devoted follower of Jesus, which was evident in his quiet calm demeanor. He served in the US Army as a radio signal specialist for 4 years before leaving to work first with the railroad, then back to Omaha working for Sherman 2-way radio, serving the needs of first responders. Bob moved from Sherman radio to the University Of Nebraska in the engineering department retiring, after 30+ years, in 2004. As an avid amateur radio operator and space enthusiast, Bob remembered fondly watching the live moon landing televised on his birthday.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Ann “Vasku” Frankland, and sons, Keith Lester Frankland and Kevin Lee Frankland; brother Donald Frankland; parents Gladys and Lester Frankland.
He is survived by his son Jim Robert Frankland; three nieces and four nephews. Also, remembered by eight grand-nieces and nephews and six great grand-nieces and nephews.
The committal service will be held August 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha. A reception will follow at 13703 S. 42nd Ave, Bellevue, NE.
