Shirley was born February 22, 1939 in Sewal, IA, the daughter of Carl Edgar and Olive Ann Kincade Mullin. Shirley attended school in Iowa and in Nebraska after her family moved there in 1946. Shirley graduated from Holdrege High School in May 1957 and entered into marriage on September 15, 1957 to James (Jim) Herbert White. Jim was transferred by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company to Omaha, NE in 1958. In February 1960, Shirley and Jim moved into a new home in LaVista, NE. In 1971, they moved into their present home in LaVista, where Shirley was still residing upon her death. Shirley’s work history includes: Nurse’s Aide, telephone operator and clerical for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, King’s restaurant at 72nd & L Street, Avon representative, and 19 years of clerical work for the St. Paul Insurance Company from which she retired in 2001.
Her many interests included: Church Circle, reading, puzzles, handiwork, and in later years counted cross stitch, playing in a Cribbage League and a Pinochle group.
Over the years, Shirley and Jim traveled by car on many trips visiting all the states. They flew to Hawaii, did the inland cruise in Alaska, and cruised to the Panama Canal. After Jim’s death, Shirley and her sister, Ramona, had many road trips including Nova Scotia and the Outer Banks. The memories of each trip were left in albums for the family to enjoy.
Preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Jim; parents; and brother Ken Mullin. Survived by daughter Lisa (John) Baranishyn of Bellevue, NE; son Jeffrey (Diana) White of San Diego, CA; sister Ramona Halburnt of Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren Brian, James, Kathryn, and Hailey; step-grandchildren Ben, Roman, Amber, Stephanie, and Jeff Jr; great-grandchildren Kopelan, AvereeJo, Damian, Ares; step-greatgrandchildren Nathan, Mason, Jace, Dimitri, Oakley, and Killian; great-great-grandson Kairo; sister-in-law Judy Mullin of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
