Alfred Ouimet

He was born on July 12, 1943, in Oneonta the son of the late Homer and Florida (Reil) Ouimet.

On Aug. 3, 1996, Fred married Shirlene Oliver in the town of Oneonta.

Fred was a dedicated employee of The Daily Star for many years and then continued for several years at Oneonta Job Corps.

He was an avid fan of the NY Giants and NY Yankees.

Fred was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many. He will be missed.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Shirlene; great-granddaughter, Ariel; and two brothers, Francis and Roland and Herbert Roe.

Fred is survived by two daughters, Barbara Snyder (John) and Cynthia Doroski; stepdaughter, Melissa (Todd) Ewen; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Gene Ouimet and Andre (Caroline) Ouimet; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, friends and co-workers are welcome to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 8, at St. Mary's Church with the Rev. David Mickiewicz officiating.
