Andrew A. DeFilippo

Andrew A. DeFilippo, 47, of the town of Harpersfield, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a short and courageous battle with illness. At the time of his passing, Andrew was surrounded by his fiancé, Julia Paczkowski, and his parents, Ciro and Beverly DeFilippo.

Andrew was born in Yonkers on July 23, 1965 and relocated to Harpersfield about 12 years ago. This is where he met Julia and their love affair began.

Loving the outdoors, Andrew was an avid hunter, fisherman, and snowmobiler. He also loved to travel with Julia and discover new things.

He is survived by his fiancé of 10 years, Julia Paczkowski; his daughter, Nicole DeFilippo of Hastings on the Hudson; a brother, Ciro and his wife Susan of Oneonta, a sister, Angelina Vanek and her husband Richard of Rhinebeck, a sister, Patricia Martinez and her husband Tony of Peekskill, a brother Robert De Filippo and his wife Tammy of North Carolina.

Andrew also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut St., Oneonta. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Stamford, NY.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Strong Memorial Hospital, Surgical ICU, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY.
