I remember Mike's graduation night. Lauren was teaching me what mine was so we were miming playing baseball.  She pitched ,I did a highly exaggerated swing and fell back and hit the radiator. I cut my head and started screaming the scream of the banshee. 

In the car to the ER, Mom kept wiping blood off my face chanting "my baby's going to be scared for life" while Dad kept telling her the cut was on the back of my head. Only not so politely. Three stitches later I was good to go. I don't know if they made Mike's graduation or not.

Just looked at Facebook and remembered how we always  said goodbye "love ya, love ya, love ya. " Mom sometimes said she couldn't say it over her teeth, but she generally managed.  It was just a simple thing. Janet started it and it just caught on. I can still hear her say it.  I'll be sorry when that goes.

My friend Tim was giving me a ride to the airport when it was snowing heavily. The road was too slippery and we slid into a neighbor's vanity fence. We would be late if we stayed (or so we reasoned) so we continued to the airport. Mom had been looking out the window and fixed it all with our neighbor. Tim still remembers how grateful he was to Mom.
