

She was born September 11, 1938 in New York City, New York the daughter of the late Kenneth Allen Empey, Sr. and Edith Regina Stahli Empey. Barbara attended school at Leonardsville and Richfield Springs. Barbara married David B. Elmore, a loving union that lasted for 28 years until his death on January 14, 2011.
For 14 years, Barbara was the Town of Davenport, Town Justice. As the justice she had a positive effect on people’s lives. That was really important to her.
One of the most important things in her life was her husband, David. She helped him in raising and training champion basset hounds and would travel with him to dog field trials. She also enjoyed taking a ride “around the block” and checking out their properties.
Barbara is survived by her brothers and sister, Bruce McCullough and companion, Lois Cashdollar, of Homestead, PA; Kenneth Empey, Jr. of Richfield Springs; and Michael Empey, Sr. and companion, Carol Malz; and Susan Stetson, both of West Oneonta; nieces and nephews, John McCullough; Trina Stackpoole and husband, Tom; Ken Empey, III and wife, Rebecca; Donna Walsh and fiancé, Douglas Bordinger; Mary Elderkin and husband, Bruce; Adam Empey; Jessemine Garcia and husband, Fabio; Jennifer Recchia and husband, Ron; Andrew Kenneth Bobak; Michael Empey and wife, Betsy; and Gregory Empey; as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by sisters-in-law, Jacque Empey and Sherry McCullough.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00AM in the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, Davenport with the Reverend Carol Wilson officiating. Barbara always had a special place in her heart for the small hamlet of Cullen as it runs deeply through our family’s DNA. She will be buried there next to her beloved husband, David in the Crain Memorial Cemetery and amongst several previous generations of the Empey family. Burial will take place at 2:30 PM.
