Betty J. Card

She was born at Fox Hospital in Oneonta on August 5, 1942 the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Whitney) Hughes.

Betty graduated from Oneonta High School.

She was first married to Ronald DeLong and then in 1992 at the Cooperstown Junction United Methodist Church, Betty married Harold B. Card. Harold predeceased her on December 25, 2012.

Betty worked at P&C grocery for many years first on Chestnut Street and then Hartwick Seminary before retiring.

She enjoyed riding motorcycle, taking walks with her son, being with her fur babies, listening to country music and long visits with her brother, Albert.

Betty is survived by her son, Rodney DeLong of Laurens with whom she resided with for several years and has been lovingly cared for since she was taken ill with dementia; former daughter-in-law, Nancy DeLong and her daughter, Julie Eichhorn of Unadilla; daughter, Tina Venth of Oneonta; 3 grandchildren, Sara, Matthew and Ashley Venth all of Oneonta; brother, Albert and Cegret Hughes of Oneonta; sister, Linda (Hughes) Louden of Sidney; several nieces and nephews.

She will be dearly missed by her fur babies, Lucky and Mason who were always by her side.

The family would like to thank Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care and the Office of the Aging who were by her side for the last 1 ½ years.
