He was born December 25, 1933 in Flushing, Queens, the son of the late Joseph Aloysius and Veronica (Moran) Reilly.
On July 28, 1974, Gene married Helen Marie Kump in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.
Gene was an electrical engineer for Sperry Corporation, Republic Electronics, and PRD Electronics on Long Island.
Gene had a knack for tinkering. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, reading, writing and drawing. He passed along his skills to his children. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Helen Reilly, Davenport Center; three children, Katherine McElwain, MA, Brendan (Kelly) Reilly, NJ and Thomas (Shannon) Reilly, Hartwick; 8 precious grandchildren whom he adored, Claire, Cecelia, Keaghan, Deirdre, Makenna, Aidan, Joshua, and Connor, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Joan Keesler, Patricia Butler and Maureen Keesler.
A Requiem Mass will be held on Saturday, December 12th at 11:00 AM at St. James Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Kenneth Hunter officiating.
