Surrounded by his loving family, John Paul Bourgeois, of Garrattsville, New York passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 due to complications with his health. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska April 20, 1966, John was predeceased by his mother, Barbara McRorie, and survived by his father, Gerald Bourgeois (wife Susan); his boys: Scotty Goodspeed, Andrew Goodspeed (wife Sarah), John Bourgeois Jr (wife Amber), Steven Bourgeois (fiance Alyssa), his sisters: Joann Bourgeois, Dorothy Beardslee (husband Gene) and Jerianna Brown (husband Andrew) his grandchildren: Reanen, Jake, Raegan, Tanner, Callie, Gio, Gaige, and Brinlee; many nieces and nephews; and his fiance, Kate Ulmer, who was by his side as he fought through his health challenges.
John spent his early years in the Sidney area where he developed a dedication for target shooting and he went on to win state finals when he was in highschool. His passion for cars -or anything with a powerful engine- was developed young with the help of his father, Jerry, and carried on throughout his life. John was very skilled at working with his hands. He was an electrician by trade, but had a wide knowledge of all things mechanical and he could fix or build just about anything- and he had the tool collection to prove it!
John spent most of his adult life in “The Gully” in Garrattsville, where his neighbors were family, and if the garage door is open, you're welcome in. He spent a number of years volunteering for the local rescue squad, serving his community and neighbors. He was known as the guy you could always rely on if you needed a part or tool to get a job done, or hands to help out.
The many friends he’s made and lives he’s touched over his life and career are countless.
A celebration of life will be held in The Gully at a later date.
