

He was born November 14, 1942 in Troy, NY, the son of the late Alfred and Esther (Ward) Scorzafava.
Scorchy graduated from Oneonta High School. Following graduation he entered the US Marine Corp. and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in 1964.
On April 18, 1970, Paul married Suzanne M. Rouillard in Springfield, MA. Together they shared 42 years of marriage.
Scorchy loved Oneonta. He was so proud to live in such a wonderful and supportive community. He owned and operated for many years the Metropolitan Diner. He was also a Real Estate Investor and had several properties.
He was a sports fanatic. He was so proud of his sons when they were growing up and participating in sports. He would always be there watching. He also coached football, wrestling, and baseball. He was the Oneonta Yellowjackets #1 fan. It didn’t matter the sport or where they were playing, Scorchy was there cheering them on. He also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and the New York Jets.
Scorchy was fond of traveling, orchestrating annual family vacations, and going to shows with his wife. They were members of Proctors in Schenectady and also Orpheus Theatre. Most of all, Paul cherished time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Oneonta B.P.O.E. #1312 and truly enjoyed the comraderie with his fellow members. He was also a member of HealthLinks; and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta.
Paul is survived by his wife, Suzanne M. Scorzafava of Oneonta; five sons, Paul J. “PJ” Scorzafava, Jr., of Millbrook, Mark L. and Lynn Scorzafava of Rotterdam, Scott A. and Adele Scorzafava of Rotterdam, Todd A. and Tina Scorzafava of Bridgewater, New Jersey, and Matthew T. and Megan Scorzafava of Annapolis, Maryland; five grandchildren, Ethan, Ella, Nicholas, Polina and Victoria Scorzafava; one brother, Ronald and Mary Scorzafava of New Port Richie, Florida; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas Scorzafava.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Bookhout Funeral Home with the Reverend Ben Ampong, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Paul’s name may be made to either the Oneonta High School Athletic Department, 130 East Street, Oneonta, NY 13820 or to the Oneonta B.P.O.E. #1312, P.O. Box 616, Oneonta, NY 13820.
