Patty was born Sept. 18, 1942, and was a dedicated mother of five children. She was also a grandmother of 13 and a great-grandmother of 11.
She is survived by her five children, Steven, Joseph and wife, Cheryl, Anthony, William and wife, Faith, and Melissa. Additionally she is survived by her husband, Joseph Rotolo Sr. and three sisters, Linda Holtsmaster, Sandra Moran and Ginger Butler.
She was predeceased by her parents, Nelson and Lena Wells; brother, Nelson Wells Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Judy.
In 1958, Patty met and married Joseph and started her own family in Brooklyn.
In 1971, she and her family returned to Oneonta where much of Patty's family still lived.
For many years, she worked at Fox Hospital Nursing Home lovingly caring for the elderly residents approaching their end-of-life journey.
At age 48, Patty suffered a near fatal brain injury that forced her to retire and she had to relearn even the most basic functions. In spite of this she never gave up and always kept a smile on her face. Some of the things she enjoyed were gardening, cooking, cleaning her house and lying in the sun. She also loved country music and enjoyed singing with her musical family members at various gatherings.
She is forever in our hearts and we are eternally grateful that she shared her light and her love so selflessly. Rest in peace, Patty.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. May 21, at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
