Rosalie V. Simmons

Rosalie was born on February 25, 1934 in Oneonta the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Concetta (Surano) Vagliardo. She married Ronald A. Simmons on August 28, 1955 and he predeceased her on October 3, 2007.

She worked for 27 years as a county program technician for the Farmer’s Home Administration in Oneonta. Rosalie was instrumental in helping many people buy their first homes. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, SUCO Golden Alumni and the Oneonta Business Women's Club.

Rosalie was a wonderful cook. You were always welcomed at her table with something homemade and delicious. We know she is now at peace and able to once again make her meatballs.

Rosalie is survived by her children, Kathy Davies and her son-in-law, Ed Davies of Oneonta and Ron Simmons and his wife, Wendy of Belchertown, Massachusetts.

She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Zachary Davies and his wife, Debbie, Alex Davies, Meghan and Ashley Simmons; her great granddaughter, Caroline Davies; her brother, Carmen Vagliardo, Sr. of Winter Haven, Florida; her two brothers-in-law, Clifford W. Simmons and his wife, Jean and Steven Simmons and his wife, Grace; her sister-in-law, Joan Schroll; her best friend, Marianna Leib, her special friend, Ellen Bronstetter and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Louis, Paul, Joseph and James Vagliardo.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street, Oneonta on Friday, December 13, 2013, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta, with Reverend Scott VanDerveer, associate pastor, officiating. Inurnment will follow at the columbarium in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Rosalie’s family wishes to thank her "family" at Chestnut Park Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to her during her stay.
