Sandra Kay Platt

She was born March 23, 1943 in Lewistown, PA the daughter of the late Herman and Pauline (Henry) Smith.

On October 25, 1964, Sandra married Gerald C. “Jerry” Platt in Oneonta. Jerry predeceased her on December 17, 2002.

In her younger years when the boys were growing up, Sandy and Jerry enjoyed taking them camping. She was an avid outdoorsman. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers and sit and watch the birds. Sandy also enjoyed watching some local kid’s motocross race in which she supported and sponsored them. But most of all, Sandy loved spending time with her family especially her grandkids and her two dogs, Griz and Shelton.

Sandy is survived by her four sons, Neil Gerald Platt and Fiance, Shari A. Gage of Mt. Vision, Richard Jay and Kimberly Platt of Oneonta, John Charles and Stacy R. Platt of Otego and Douglas William and Michelle L. Platt of Mt. Vision; 13 grandchildren, Jamil Lindsay, Keegan J. Platt, Cole G. and Abbie T. Platt, Michael K. and Derrick E. Rose, Addison L. Platt, Alexandria J. Evans, Spencer D. Platt, Eric M., Susie E., Abigail and Christopher Platt; two brothers, Stanley Smith of Lewistown, PA and Herman Smith of Belleville, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, David Allen Platt and one brother, Tiny Smith.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2014 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 1:00 to 3:00PM.
