She was born May 19, 1943 in San Juan, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Raymond and Angelita (Taverez) Marble.
Violet graduated from Oneonta High School the Class of 1963.
On March 3, 1968, Violet married Nelson A. Wells, Jr. in Oneonta. Nelson predeceased her on April 9, 2005.
For many years Violet was independently employed performing housekeeping and healthcare.
Violet loved her cats, tending to her flowers, cooking, baking, sitting and watching the birds, sewing and doing crafts. But what brought her the greatest joy was her grandchildren. She treasured the time she spent with them.
Violet is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nelson A. and Teri Wells, III; two precious grandchildren, Gerald Wells and Kristen Wells and fiancé, Daniel Marino; one brother, Brian Marble; two sisters, Susan and Stan Holmes and Beverly Fuller; four sisters-in-law, Patricia Rotolo, Linda Holtsmaster, Sandra Morin and Ginger and Paul Butler; as well as several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Richie Marble; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nelson A. and Lena Wells, Sr.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions masks and social distancing are required and you may be asked to wait. Graveside memorial services will be held at Bundy Cemetery, Otego will held at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Bruce Helstrom officiating.
