

Albert (Bobby) R. Lopez passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 22, 2013. Born on May 8, 1924, on the kitchen table of his family home in the barrio, he was a lifelong resident of Ontario. Albert served in the Army in 1946; and upon discharge, went to school under the GI bill and studied airplane engine repair. He started work in the airplane industry in 1948 and worked most recently with Lockheed Aircraft, retiring after more than 40 years. His most notable achievement there was working on the U-2, the SR71 Blackbird and in Area 51. Albert was active in the community, serving as president of the PTA at Grove School, President of the LULAC Ontario, Scout Master of Troop 18 Ontario, and Usher at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Ontario.
Albert was married to Mary Louise Martinez until her death in 1983. Together they raised three children, Albert Lopez Junior (married to Sharon), Mary Louise Grisafe (John), and Robert Lopez (Camille). He remarried in 1997 to Sylvia Marta. He is survived by his children, his wife Sylvia, and four grandchildren, Christopher Lopez, Mark Hammons, Michael and Mona Grisafe. He was kind, loving and a hardworking family man who will be missed by all who knew him.
