Alvin Moved to Chino in 1962. He was married and had 4 daughters, Sheri Flores (Paul), Teri Camping (Daryl), Debra Haley (Steve) and Leslie Abacherli (Jim). He then was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Kristen, Michael, Jamie, Mandi, Tawnee, Jayleen, Jordan, Aliya and Ava.
His family continued to grow and was blessed with 23 great grandchildren with the 24th due in April. Reese, Jase, Cory, Emmy, Reid, Walter, Alexa, Chanelle, Samuel, Trevor, Brianna, Sadie, Taytum, Hayden, Bentley, Savvy, Fallyn, Kaelyn, Krysta, Kamber, William, Parker and Shelby.
He also adored his wonderful friend Petra for 8 ½ years.
Alvin is survived by a sister Thelma Coles (Ron) and a brother Bill Gerritsen (Sandy) in addition to 2 nephews (Michael and Shane) 1 niece (Tina) and all children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alvin drove trucks for many years. He hauled cattle for Bert Van Dyk and also worked for Consolidated Freightways. In the 70’s he started his own business picking up and hauling downer cows for all the dairymen he knew. He then had a gravel truck (the cleanest green and gold truck you’ve ever seen). Pride and joy for sure.
Alvin enjoyed being with his family and his many friends. He enjoyed collecting hot rods and going to car and truck shows. Alvin loved traveling in his motorhome visiting friends and relatives all over the US and going with friends to the desert playing in the sand dunes. He also loved going to the dairy with his son-in-law Jim and going with him on hay buying road trips. (Oh the stories they can tell) Alvin also helped start the Chino demolition derby that continues to this day for many to enjoy.
Thank you for all the good times that you gave us Dad, you will be forever in our hearts.
Love you,
Your family
