Armando was born on September 14, 1940 in Batangas, Philippines. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; his four children and their spouses:, Dinnah and Joe, Andrew and Vicky, Ruanne and Keadrick and Leilani and Arnold; and eight grandchildren, Jakob, Justice, Keara, Malik, Gabriel, Avery, Malia, and Deauville.
Armando was the youngest of his siblings: Leandro, Elvira, Rustica and Elpidio. His parents were Elena Laqui Jusay and Eduardo Santos Donato. Armando grew up from humble means. His first five years of childhood was marked by World War II and the Japanese occupation of the Philippines; however, he is a descendent of Katipuneros and labor leaders thus resilience and justice are inherent in his family. His ancestors and childhood experiences are foundation to the values that he practiced with his loved ones and passed on to his children and grandchildren:
● Family is the backbone of society. Everything starts from the family. Love, respect, charity and compassion are generated from the family.
● Respect, especially toward your elders.
● Education. Although his parents were not rich, they strived to put all their children in school because education is the best gift they can give their children. Knowledge can never be taken away and will lead to a better life.
● Love your family.
● Camaraderie
Armando lived for the moment. His family’s journey from the Philippines to America began with standing in line in front of the US Embassy. This opened opportunities for his children and relatives to create lives that fulfill their potential rather than just survival. Armando, as an accountant, and Elsie fulfilled their dream to provide the best education for their children, all who are college graduates. He loved traveling and shared this passion with his children through camping trips or amusement parks. He created memories for his family that, as a child, he was not able to experience.
Armando’s family wish to thank relatives and friends for their support and prayers. Each person enriched Armando’s life with camaraderie and laughter. The family take comfort that he is with God because he is a man of God.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
