Bernie was born in Las Tunas, Cuba. He arrived to the United States at the age of 8. Within 6 months of arriving to the United States, he learned the English language. Although he was the class clown, he excelled in his studies and graduated from Ontario High in 1978. He jump-started his career at Los Monitos from 1976-1978 before becoming manager at McDonald's for over 20 years.
In 1994, Bernie accomplished his lifelong dream of buying Los Monitos. Within his 30 years of ownership, he branched out within the I.E. Wherever Bernie went, he was the life of the party. Always smiling and bringing laughter to others. Bernie loved his music, which he always blasted while singing his heart out.
He is survived by his mom, Ramona Acosta; his wife, Antonia Diaz; his siblings, Andy Diaz and Mavel Diaz. He is also survived by his 6 children, Amber, Bernie Jr, Chris, Crystal, Manuel, and Sierra Diaz, as well as his 9 grandchildren.
Bernie will be missed dearly. "KMG-365 over and out"
