David Frederic Grant passed away peacefully with
his wife by his side on October 12, 2020. David was born on April 29,1941 to Julian
“Jack” and Kathryn Grant. They lived in Glendale, California. He graduated from Hoover
High School in 1959. After graduating from high school, he enlisted with the United
States Navy. He was a Sonarman Petty Officer Second Class and was stationed
aboard the USS Agerholm. He received a Good Conduct Medal Award in 1962. After
he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Big Bear, California where he
worked as a bartender and a volunteer firefighter. He later moved to San Bernardino,
California where he became a California Highway Patrol Officer. During this time, he
was also attending Cal State San Bernardino where he graduated with a Bachelor of
Arts Degree, Major in Administration. David later went on to become an Investigator for
the Department of Motor Vehicles and moved to La Verne, California. During this time,
he attended the University of La Verne, College of Law and graduated in 1981 with a
Juris Doctorate Degree. He also was awarded the American Juris Prudence Award in
the fall of 1980. In 1982, David passed the California State Bar and began his law
career with Stockwell-Anderson in Pomona. In 1997, he co-founded Bradford and
Barthel, where he worked as a partner and managing attorney for many years. David
retired in June 2014 as one of the firm’s senior equity partners.
David loved his family very much. He also loved woodworking and restoring old trucks.
He won many car show awards at various events over the years.
David was preceded in death by his parents Julian and Kathryn Grant, and his grandson
Jason Grohe. David is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Grant, his daughter
Debi Grohe and son-in-law Ronnie Grohe, his son Gary Grant, his granddaughter Tani
Lacombe and her husband Derek Lacombe, his grandsons Darren Grohe and Kevin
Grohe, his great-grandchildren Madyson, Hudson, and Hayden Lacombe, his brother
Michael Grant and his wife Noemi, his sisters Donna Davis, Cindi Grant, and Kate
McDaniel and her husband Rex, along with his nieces and nephews.
David will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
